The tragic love triangle boasts a cast of Hong Kong all-stars, including Joey Wong, Kenny Bee, and a shockingly young Tony Leung (playing against type); was innovatively shot using seemingly every cinematographic tool in the shed by co-DPs David Chung and Christopher Doyle (Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love); and was scored to the crooning tunes of Danny Chung (Happy Together).

Directed by Patrick Tam—a key filmmaker of the Hong Kong New Wave and a mentor and frequent editor of Wong Kar-Wai.
